IDA Overview

Center for Prevention and Treatment of Infections is the name under which the Infectious Diseases Associates of Northwest Florida does business. Dr. Barbara Wade is the owner of the corporation and has been in practice in Pensacola since 1987. She has been engaged in the care of patients since she entered private practice in 1984. After relocating to Pensacola in 1987, she served on a state task force to identify needs in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties of Florida.

The first clinic for HIV/AIDS was started in Pensacola by Barbara Wade, MD in 1989 prior to the enactment of the Ryan White Care Act. Dr. Wade served as Medical Director throughout its existence until November 1, 2000, when medical care provided by Ryan White funds was transferred to her practice, the Center for Prevention and Treatment of Infections. The office currently employs two physicians and two physician assistants who are dedicated to the care of those living with HIV/AIDS.

Our office treats a large variety of Infectious Diseases including but not limited to:

  • Non-healing wounds
  • Skin/tissue/bone infections
  • Hepatitis
  • TB
  • HIV/AIDS
